Toyota has produced some popular hybrid cars over the years, which is good for global warming and a great choice for the environmentally conscious. The following is an outline of two of them:

    The Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius is one of the world’s most popular hybrid cars due to its awesome fuel economy that most new hybrids will struggle to attain. It is presently more than a decade old, but still going strong. On to the finer details, its CO2 emissions are around 89/km so it’s road-tax exempt. Short journeys can be done using the electric motor alone, hence cutting your fuel costs on the long run. The Prius comes in three specifications, mainly the entry level T3, top of the range T-Spirit, and mid-range T-4. There is also the Plug-in, which was released in 2012, with the current one being the most economical. It returns a remarkable 134mpg, with the emissions, standing at about 49g/km. The Prius+ is a great option for those who like travelling as a group, as it is a seven-seater. Overall, the car’s reliability is great, with the 2014 Driver Power satisfaction survey placing it at 17 out of 33 on the manufacturer’s rating board.

    The Toyota Auris

The Auris is another hybrid from Toyota and offers great fuel economy and space. It is Toyota’s answer to the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. It’s an affordable car that can easily seat five adults, so long as the rear passengers aren’t built like sumo wrestlers or rugby players and has generous legroom. Although the boot of this car is small compared to, for example, a VW Golf, the rear seats can fold in two, hence creating space for bulky items. On to other features, the Auris has a great suspension, which translates to a better ride, the dashboard is well laid out, and the pedals, gearshift, and steering easy to operate. The model is available in several options starting with the 1.33 litre, which returns 52.6mpg, with the emissions stats, standing at 125g/km, the 1.4 litre diesel, whose fuel economy is around 72mpg, and finally the ultimate 1.8 litre, whose CO2 emissions are so low that it qualifies for road tax exemption. On to safety, the Auris was made to meet the five star score in the Euro NCAP tests and has achieved a score of above 90%. It comes with safety features, which include seven airbags, Hill-start Assist Control, and Stability Control.
